TET is over (1)

Đêm giao thừa - ( the last night before the lunar new year )

The rituals for this night is nation-wide but it may differ a little in every family.
In my family of 2 people, my mom and I, after finishing all the cleaning and preparing for our real new year, usually dress up well then go to the Đền Thánh Trần ( Tran Saint temple, where Tran Hung Dao is worshipped) and spend the moment between the two years there.

After all, we sit down at the temple to enjoy the fresh air of the new year, checking our phones for loads of greeting SMS, looking at people around. Then we decide to go home to Xông Nhà, a traditional and quite religious ritual in which someone becomes the first person to walk into a house and may bring good or bad luck to the family in the house. In recent years, my Mom has always been the choosen one.

She walks into the house, speaking beautiful words, blessing the family all the best things she can think of, then the night will be over after our dinner/breakfast. We will never feel hungry on the first days of the lunar new year.

the temple locates in district 1. Many of the people gathering here are Northern VN because Tran Hung Dao is most worshipped in the North of Vietnam.
