No money for houses
Good House, an apartment building project by Lê Minh M.C Corp., at District 8 HCMC was designed to have 15 storeys with 252 apartments ranging from 71-100 m2 of which the City Commitee booked 75 ones for the resettlement of urban improvement of District 8. The others were scheduled to be handed to customers on June 2011. However, though the deadline had been over, the construction was still at its plain stage.
According Mrs. Nguyen Thi Minh Dung, director of Lê Minh M.C Corp., the company was going to use the city payment to pay debt. However, the city still had not signed the contract and paid any money and the project stagnated.
Carina, another project in District 8, also got registering from the city to buy 159 apartments for resettlement. But now the customer cancelled its buying for lacking of money.
No inhabitants for houses
While District 8 was deprived of resettlement housing, a spacious two-block project named 481 Ben Ba Dinh which as pointed by the city to be set for resettlement now stands desert. A citizen in the surrouding area said that in spite of being of a resettlement project, apartments there have prices from 1.4 to 1.7 billion VND. Those are inaffordable to clearance citizens.
The resettlement building of Bac Rach Chiec residence in District 9 was opened 9 years ago but there has only 1 family moved in until now. People say that the construction isn't finished yet; on the other hand, it's not convenient for their earnings.
Tan Hung apartment building (Him Lam residence, District 7) has 72 units and opened since 2006 but there were only a few families moved in until 2011.
Phu My apartments (District 7) has 300 apartments for resettlement but only 50 inhabited.
